Happy 85th Gram!

This weekend was very special. Our grandma turned 85 on January 13th, so the whole family got together to celebrate! Now, I know a lot of people can say their grandmas are special, but ours TRULY is and really is the base for our whole family. We all had the privilege of growing up with our grandma, she was literally next door to most of us, if not, less than a couple miles away. She basically had a hand in raising all of us grand kids since we were babies. Not every grandma has the chance to do that and not every grandchild can say that about their grandmas either. We all have special memories with her whether it was making buttermilk pancakes, the familiar sound of polka music going in her house, her famous spaghetti, Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings and many more! We are all still so lucky to have her in our lives and we hope she gets a good 20 more years in! Afterall, she'll be a great-grandma in May, so I am hoping my baby will get to know her just as well as we all do!

Anyways, we all gathered at my mom's on Saturday night for the birthday party. My grandma even had her two brothers there to celebrate with her. That's pretty rare if you ask me! My mom made her yummy shrimp alfredo, and we had lots of cake and drinks. I think everyone had a great time, especially grandma, she did so well! Later that night, my cousins, their significant others, and me and Brad all went out to the bar. I was the sober driver, so we were all safe :) We all had a great time at Palmer's and stayed until bar close...that was the latest I have stayed up in 5 months! We set a record!

Sunday Brad and I got up early and met Bruce and Corrine (Brad's parents) for breakfast at Country Kitchen. It was fun to catch up with them since we hadn't seen them since before Christmas! We are looking forward to having them come stay at our house in February...we got them Timberwolves tickets for Christmas so we are all looking forward to cheering on Ricky Rubio! :)

Well I hope everyone has a great week!

Here are some pics from the party:

Project Nursery

So my books are totally right. I went into MAJOR "nesting" mode this weekend. And yes, I may be slightly on the anal side, but as soon as we found out it was a boy, I just HAD to have the nursery painted this weekend. I can't stand an "unfinished" room. I am sure Brad loves that about me :) So anyways, Friday night we went and picked out paint...we decided to go totally neutral as far as paint goes, it will save us another major paint job somewhere down the line. Saturday, we woke up bright and early and started painting. We got the whole room done and cleaned up by about 5pm. Go us! It turned out really well. We just did 3 walls a light brown and one dark brown accent wall. Then, Saturday night we went to dinner then to my friend's Laura and Kristin's dual 30th birthday party at Cowboy Jacks! It was fun, all the girls rode the bull and (except for me, obviously) everyone had a great time!! Sunday, we had another project...putting together the crib.

Sidenote: I want to thank Brad's cousin Kristin and her husband Jason for giving us their crib and dresser! We are so lucky to have such generous cousins. I am sure our baby will love it just as much as Cale and Keegyn did! Thanks again you guys!

Anyways, we got the crib and dresser put together. (Hopefully we did it right!) The rest of the day Brad finally got to relax and watch a little football. I went shopping with my friend MaKenzie...it was such a beautiful day and we just had to take advantage of the weather.

I hope everyone enjoys their week and takes advantage of the 45 degrees today, the cold is coming!! We aren't too worried though because we have a vacation in Florida coming up at the end of January with our friends Tina and Todd, we can't wait!

PS: Just want to wish my mom a happy 51st birthday tomorrow and my grandma a happy 85th birthday on Friday! Love you both so much! Can't wait to celebrate with you this weekend.

Here are some pics of the nursery....decor soon to come!

It's a.......BOY!

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope everyone has a healthy, safe and happy 2012. Brad and I are so excited for this year because we get to meet our little boy in May!

We just had our very first ultrasound this morning and it was the most amazing experience. It was the very first time we actually got to see our little peanut and find out "it" was a "he." It couldn't have been more obvious, haha! We were both so excited and surprised because both our gut feelings was that it was a girl. He had all his fingers and toes and was weighing in at about a pound right now. The tech said everything looked great, but we are excited to hear the results from our doctor as well once she takes a look.

Here are a couple pictures, even though he sort of looks like an alien right now, we both think he's really cute :)
